Other Projects and Experience/Expertise

Having worked in private practice before forming Studio Broon, the majority of Vanessa and Julien's project portfolio is under other architectural firms. The images below give a good overview of the type and scale of projects which they have experience in.

Involvement in these projects spanned all project stages, from survey and design, to gaining necessary planning and building warrant approvals, through the tender process, to contract administration and site inspections. Involvement in most of the projects shown covered all of these stages, from inception to completion.

Vanessa and Julien's experience covers a large number of varied projects, including:

• New-build Housing - for private clients seeking tailored homes, and also developers looking for multi-unit, market focused designs.

• Domestic Extensions and Alterations.

• Conversions - such as 'The Institute' Flats in Keith, steading conversions and the Barra Holiday Lets near Oldmeldrum.

• Listed Buildings and Conservation Work - incl. Queens Road in Aberdeen and Skellater House in Strathdon.

• Non-Domestic Projects - such as the Barra Barn Venue and Barra Berries Shop/Café near Oldmeldrum, which Vanessa was the architect for from inception to completion.

• Community/Leisure Projects, such as a new-build community hall which Vanessa won for her previous practice through a design competition against several other local architects.
