Studio Broon believe that all projects could benefit from the input of an architect and that good design is attainable for even the humblest of buildings. Therefore they value all enquiries and welcome all projects, from small scale extensions and alterations, to bespoke new-build homes and large scale domestic and non-domestic developments.
Although based in north Aberdeenshire, with most projects in the Ellon, Peterhead, Oldmeldrum and Inverurie areas, Studio Broon also cover Aberdeen city, Moray and Angus. Vanessa and Julien spend a lot of time in Inverness-shire and West Lothian, allowing them to consider projects throughout Scotland.
Studio Broon are a client focused practice offering a full range of architectural services. Each project starts with a FREE INITIAL CONSULTATION, typically involving a site visit to discuss the client's requirements, aspirations and constraints. From that first meeting, a service proposal will be produced for client consideration. A Studio Broon service proposal will advise on the architectural services required, the applicable planning/building warrant applications, likely timescales for each stage and associated fees (incl. application fees, likely costs for engineering etc.) for the project. Studio Broon usually propose a fixed lump sum fee for their services for each relevant stage. The service proposal aims to give the client a full, transparent picture of the likely costs and timescales involved for the project from an early stage. This keeps expectations realistic and avoids unwelcome surprise bills!

Listed Buildings and Conservation work
Vanessa has worked as the lead architect on a variety of historical building projects. Her experience with listed buildings ranges from small cottages to castles and covers grades A, B and C. She has worked on projects in a number of conservation areas including Oldmeldrum, Keith, Aberdeen, Inverness, and the Banffshire Coast.
With over a decade of experienece in this area, Vanessa is currently working towards professional accreditation in conservation architecture.
With a passion for preserving historical architecture through appropriate construction, materials and detailing, Vanessa's approach is both practical and realistic. She understands that for some historical buildings, sensitive alterations/extensions can make the difference between that building deteriorating to ruin, or being made suitable for modern living and therefore preserved for generations to come.

Contract Admin & Architect's Inspections
Studio Broon can provide a full architect's service, administering the building contract, taking site meetings and supporting clients, main contractors or self-builders through the construction phase.
Either alongside these services, or independently, Studio Broon can conduct site inspections at key stages and provide Professional Consultant's Certificates to support mortgages/lending requirements.
